Heather- Lee Smith more commonly known to us as "H"! Hard working, consistent, willing to learn and improve are all words that spring to mind when talking about H! Always questioning us about certain aspects of our program as well as ways she can improve her technique, correct posture or work on some weaknesses really show how much she cares! Her dedication to getting better is amazing and it goes to show with the little 1% extras she does just how much she has improved and how others can too! A regular amongst the 9:15am Coal Coasters, H was on fire, improving each session whilst training in the gym! Covid-19 hasn't stopped her as she's continued her hot streak since we've taken training online and at home, leading the tally for most completed sessions on our online training app! She loves our strength program and along with her partner Tyran, they have come up with awesome and unique ways to keep training hard from home!
You are killing it H! You're showing the rest of the world how you can still get it done in isolation and your new 10kg PB on your 12 Rep Deadlift is an awesome reward for your hard work! Keep up the solid work mate we are super proud of you! We caught up with this legend of a Coal Coaster to find out a little more about how she's going in isolation and what training at home has been like.

What’s life been like for you in isolation?
Honestly, I was a little bummed when it started, as my workplace, the gym and uni all closed. I expected that I’d lose all motivation, but I ended up establishing a routine and really surprising myself. With so much free time, I could focus on studying and training and it's been really rewarding. I’ve also found riding my bike to the beach, running and getting in the ocean has really helped. My time outdoors has become more meaningful, which is nice.
How did you get started with us at CCF and what’s the journey been like so far?
CCF popped up on my Instagram as an add one day and I was looking at trying a new gym at the time. I liked the ‘community’ vibe the Instagram gave and that the program was holistic and offered yoga and ‘headfirst’ social sunrise swim and coffee. I believe your social and emotional wellbeing are just as important for your health as your physical fitness, and Coal Coast had the same philosophy. After joining, the community was everything I expected to be. It shows even more now that we’re all in iso but still training together online and keeping each other motivated. It’s an awesome thing to be a part of!
If you could direct a movie about your life what would it be called and who would star as you?
This question is the hardest. I’d have to be played my Jennifer Aniston, just because she’s my favourite. I couldn’t come up with a movie name so did an online quiz, which said my movie would be called ‘The Fighter’. I think it's appropriate, although I might have to take a few more boxing classes.

You’re leading the tally with the most recorded sessions on our online training app! How are you finding the online program and training at home?
I love the app! It keeps me accountable and motivated and I hope we keep it when we go back to the gym. I’ve also been lucky that I’ve had my partner doing the strength program with me and we were able to pick up some equipment, although I’ve also been improvising with milk crates for step ups and water containers for bent over rows. It’s been an overall positive experience, but I’m keen to get back in the gym with everyone.
What’s your favourite thing about CCF? The community and the trainers! I originally liked that CCF had open gym times, but I’ve only ended up using it once because I love the classes and training with everyone so much.

You're an awesome part of our Coal Coast Family H!
You're not only inspiring us but also the rest of the gym by setting such an awesome example!
Keep ripping in legend we can't wait to train with you in the gym soon!
